MAKE IT SPIN THIS CHRISTMAS
Felege Hiwot Hospital Ethiopia is facing a real crisis this Christmas! The hospital that serves the people in the Northen Ethiopia, has no washing machines or laundry facilities. The situation is really dire with soiled laundry piled high and the staff trying to wash sheets in cold water. This is putting the lives of mums and babies in the Maternity Hospital at particular risk of contracting a life threatening infection. Following a visit there, Soapbox, an Aberdeen charity, were so moved ‘we feel that we must do something to help’, and so the ‘Make it Spin’ campaign was launched with a very generous donation from the retirement collection of Dr. Roelf Dijkhuizen, Medical Director, NHS Grampian. In total over £1000 has been collected, a great start to restore the laundering facilities. However we need to raise another £1000 to make the washing machines spin again!
I am looking for groups/offices/companies to join our Make it Spin campaign by encouraging colleagues/friends to make a small donation in lieu of sending Christmas cards. If your office/group would like to make a difference and provide a clean birth for mothers and babies this Christmas, please contact me and I will provide an attractive A3 glossy poster which you can display and use to write names on to wish one another Merry Christmas. All donations will go directly to Felege Hiwot Hospital and so every penny will go towards saving lives.
